O que vc acha dessa foto? Bonita, feia, boa, ruim, legal, sem graça…. Sim, sua opinião ainda conta, mesmo em tempos de coletivismo.
A história é que essa imagem foi publicada anonimamente no grupo DeleteMe! do Flickr. Lá cada um dos mais de 3000 participantes pode votar em salvar ou deletar as imagens publicadas. A brincadeira é deixar que a coletividade crie uma seleção de imagens que valem a pena serem salvas. O resultado foi que a foto acima, de niguém menos que Henri Cartier-Bresson, não passou no crivo da inteligência coletiva. Foi deletada porque, entre outras críticas, “ficou borradaâ€. Por essas e outras que muita gente anda meio cabrera sobre o assunto.
Jaron Lanier é dos mais bem articulados, em DIGITAL MAOISM: The Hazards of the New Online Collectivism ele debocha dos que acreditam que a inteligência coletiva, gerada por algorítimos sem inteferência humana direta, pode superar a individual.
“Collectives can be just as stupid as any individual, and in important cases, stupider. The interesting question is whether it’s possible to map out where the one is smarter than the many.â€

Um dos argumentos principais é que a mente-muvuca (tradução livre para hive mind, hehehe) se baseia muito mais no buzzing do que na relevância concreta de uma informação pra decidir o que merece destaque. Por isso que em lugares que se baseiam exclusivamente nela para edição de conteúdo vc vai ler sobre o novo recorde mundial de ingestão de sorvete de chocolate e talvez nem fique sabendo sobre assuntos que afetam sua vida diretamente.
Ele dá com exemplo o popurls. Ali podemos ver o máximo do buzz mundial em tempo real, pra seu deslumbre ou decepção…
Watch subject. Bush goes ballistic about other countries being evil and dangerous, because they have weapons of mass destruction. But, he insists on building up even a more deadly supply of nuclear arms right here in the US. What do you think?
